"Glad to see you had the time to post this diatribe on every review site. Would we return? Yes, we have heard great things about their regular Italian menu & it will be nice to dine on the upper terrace come spring, but we will approach w/ appropriately lowered expectations.Īfter posting this review, I received a tersely worded reply from Richard, the owner, of which he has since softened his response, but I saved the original reply here Yes, the server did check on us several times, but again, nothing so egregious to voice a complaint over & we did tip above 20%. Never did a manager appear in the dining room & although there wasn't anything outstand to comment on, it would have been nice to receive a holiday greeting from a manager at such a named fine dining restaurant. Another odd texture & it was not entirely consumed as the pecan tart was. Much to airy, but dense, almost cake-like, at the same time without the depth of chocolate that was expected. The chocolate mousse was a disappointment. The house made whipped cream had an odd texture, but excellent flavor. I understand that the dessert course is classically served w/ a spoon, but a hard crust pecan tart (pie) is difficult to cut into w/ a spoon & shards of crust did fly across the table, still it was the most delicious item of the evening. It was barely half full & I greatly would have enjoyed more as it was perfectly balanced.Īfter dinner was cleared, we waited & waited for the desserts to arrive, w/ no offer of coffee & not sure why this course the timing was so much longer. My disappointed came in the small ramekin of cranberry sauce as it was so minuscule to almost be missed on the plate. The accompanying green beans, w/cream sauce, were still slightly too crunchy & several were grey in color. The bread stuffing was generous & highly anticipated, but it did come off lackluster, w/o much flavor & an insufficient amount of gravy. Perhaps it was salt-brined to keep it moist, but I needed several refills of iced tea just to finish. The turkey was juicy, but we both remarked at how salty it tasted. The salmon was crispy & delicious, served w/rice w/ imperceptible saffron & a corn/pepper pudding. We got the Thanksgiving turkey w/ all the trimmings & the King Salmon. Service appeared to be of a fine dining level, but our table was never de-crumbed, perhaps that is not a standard that they follow. The mixed salad w/pomegranate pips, orange supremes & feta & the squash soup were both delicious & flavorful. The panko crusted goat cheese was also wet & not a nice texture from the barely covering panko. The prosciutto wrapped figs w/gorgonzola were oddly greasy & tough. The amuse was a surprise, but also seemed to be prepared quite early in the day & had lost it's freshness. We ordered iced teas & we accepted the offer of lemon, but we declined the sugar, however the server still brought the sugar to the table. The server was quite gracious to accommodate us. Unfortunately, the small booths on the raised platform were claustrophobic & not comfortable, so we opted to move to a table w/chairs. Hostess also was setting tables, but I guess that they don't use tray service to reset as she was holding bread plates against her sweater before placing them on the tables. Our server was professional, if a bit stiff. Free covered parking was available off to the side of the restaurant, which was nice & convenient.Īrriving it was quiet, but it seemed that the staff was busy. A credit card was required to hold the res. We decided to make reservations for Thanksgiving, & luckily got on the wait list & secured a res.
